Welcome
to the Middle School Media class page. As students
in the Middle School Media Class, you will help design this
page and post many of your finished projects on it over the
course of the quarter. It is yours, with final approval from
me, your media teacher, prior to posting. It is a work in
progress! We will be learning together.
Projects
You will create at least four finished media products this
term using Adobe PhotoShop and iMovie. One project will be
to create a cover for a book of your choice bringing its theme
and other elements together in a visually engaging manner.
Another project is a choice between creating an iMovie of
photographs, words, and perhaps audio which form a tribute
to an important person in your life, or one which reveals
a memorable moment in your life. A third project will be a
short movie which demonstrates your ability to incorporate
camera techniques you will be learning to form a compelling
visual and audio product. The last required project will be
to create a unique self portrait using elements of Adobe PhotoShop.
You will post your finished products with descriptions to
this page, learning a little about Dreamweaver web authoring
software.
WebBoard
You will
be uploading your work using still images at least once a
week to WebBoard with comments about your work and help or
feedback you would like to receive from your classmates and
your teacher. You will also respond at least once a week to
classmates' work that they have uploaded to WebBoard. Helping
each other and critiquing each other's works-in progress is
an important component of this class.
Media
Literacy
In addition
to creating and critiquing projects, you will discuss and
dissect several advertisements demonstrating your growing
understanding of media and marketing techniques used to grab
our attention.
Weekly
Schedule and Due Dates
I will do my best to post the weekly schedule online,
along with due dates for larger projects well ahead of time.
Click on the schedule button to see what we will be doing
the first week, subject to change depending on start of year
trips and events.
I am looking very forward to having each of you in
class this year! Your teacher, Holly Kruse.
