Seventh graders in this
section of literature class will be reading and discussing
four to five novels and a variety of other literature over
the course of the year. Using WebBoard,
students will have the opportunity to discuss their reading
and to conference with each other and their teacher online.
During the year, students
will complete two formal response to literature essays for
their writing portfolio. Students will also keep a log of
their personal and required reading to submit with their writing
portfolio at the end of the year.

about this class, click on the "Literature" button
on the side menu.

Media class is offered
quarterly to a mixed group of 7th and 8th graders. In this
class, students create and evaluate media. This involves developing
and editing movies using imovie and digital images using Adobe
Photoshop, and taking a close look at the power of media today
through advertisements.
Students will use WebBoard
to share and critique their media works-in-progress with each
other online. Finished media projects will be posted on the
Media web page which students will help to design using Dreamweaver
software.

page, click on the "Media Class" button on the side

The Cabot School Library/Media
Center is open to students, staff, parents and the community,
five days a week during regular school hours throughout the
school year.
Students in the
elementary grades visit the Library at least once a week to
build their proficiency in information literacy skills through
integrated projects, and to immerse themselves in the pleasure
of reading which we hope will last a lifetime.
Our students in preschool
through grade four are involved in the Vermont Red Clover
Book Award program. Fourth through eighth graders are invited
to participate in Vermont's Dorothy Canfield Children's Choice
Award program. Both programs involve the reading of excellent
books and voting for their favorite, helping to determine
the state's winning titles.
The Library has a web page which contains links to two authoritative
databases - Grolier Online encyclopedias; and Vermont Online,
which includes a wide variety of full-text periodicals for
elementary through high school students and their teachers.
These databases may be accessed from home with a username
and password.
The Library's automated catalog of its books, books on tape,
and other resources is also available through the Library
web page and accessible from home as well. All community members
are welcome to borrow resources from the Library.
We also have a number of networked PC and Mac computers and
a variety of media equipment.
