The Cabot High School Band has redefined the meaning of school band. Renaming themselves The Limes, the 11 piece ensemble has emerged onto the Vermont music scene not as a novelty but a truly musical little big band with something to offer. A band that continues to be diverse as the music they play. They come equipped with many years of playing with one another and a director who shares his passion for the joy of sound and performance. Under the direction of Vermont musician, composer and award winning educator, Brian Boyes, The Limes cover the gamut of music styles from alternative rock to old jazz standards including many original pieces collectively composed by the ensemble. Featuring marvel chanteuse senior Hannah Pitkin, The Limes instrumentation include a rock solid rhythm section featuring the vibes and vintage keys such as the hammond b-3, rhodes and clavinet. The Limes also include an unusual 6 piece horn section of 2 clarinets, flute, 2 trumpets and baritone sax. In preparation for their spring tour of the north east and mid-atlantic states, the band will be going into one of Vermont's premier recording studios, Egan Media, this March to produce and record an album. The Limes are here now and will probably be gone tomorrow. Check them out today. |
