I am genuinely honored to be the new principal of the Cabot School. My 25 years in VT education have been consistently peppered with reports of Cabot’s commitment to the community’s children. Over the years, I have been attracted to Cabot’s understanding of the importance of “place” in a child’s young life and the extension of that sense of place to the wider world.
Like all schools, Cabot is struggling with the new economy and a dynamic social order that challenges children, families and school life. It has been a rapid change demanding a rapid adjustment that does not come naturally to most people. Still, a solid foundation weathers all insults, changes and new developments. It is clear to me that the Cabot community’s deep roots and high standards will ultimately prevail.
A little flavor of who I am….. a life-long educator and child advocate. My professional experience spans special education, school social work and administration with a keen interest in social responsibility & preparation for life in the world outside of school. I earned both a BA and MSW at the University of Connecticut and remain a faithful fan of UCONN Husky basketball. UCONN Huskies, Cabot Huskies and 2 retired Iditarod Huskies, Yogy & Mozy .....a catchy coincidence.
